Location: King of Prussia, PA, 19406

Contract: 03+ months possible contract to hire

Shift: 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Hours Per week: 40 hours per week.

Dress Code: Navy, Black, or Dark Grey Scrubs

About the Role

The Specialty Pharmacist serves as a key clinical liaison between specialty pharmacy operations, specialty clinics, and patients. This role is responsible for delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered pharmaceutical care and maintaining expertise in pediatric specialty drug therapies. The Specialty Pharmacist partners with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, effective, and accessible medication use while supporting clinical and operational excellence within specialty pharmacy services.

What You’ll Do

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Provide accurate, timely, and patient‑centered specialty pharmacy services to individuals with complex medication needs.
  • Deliver clinical monitoring and patient care in compliance with organizational policies, state pharmacy regulations, and applicable accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, The Joint Commission).
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, care teams, patients, and caregivers to support safe pharmacotherapy and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted medication and drug information resource for clinics, patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Conduct initial and follow‑up patient assessments, including both in‑person and telephonic consultations.

Medication Access & Care Coordination

  • Support the enrollment and onboarding of new specialty pharmacy patients.
  • Initiate, manage, and track prior authorization processes for specialty medications.
  • Assist patients and families with access to financial assistance programs when eligible.
  • Coordinate referrals to other pharmacy or clinical services as appropriate.

Operations, Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient documentation.
  • Support daily specialty pharmacy clinic operations within assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure safe medication preparation and distribution.
  • Identify workflow improvement opportunities and partner with leadership on process optimization initiatives.
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety, and service excellence initiatives.
  • Contribute to the growth and expansion of specialty and ambulatory pharmacy services.

Education & Training

  • Provide medication education and service updates to patients, caregivers, clinic staff, and pharmacy team members.
  • Support onboarding and training of new specialty pharmacy staff.
  • Precept pharmacy students, interns, and/or residents as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active Pharmacist license in the applicable state
  • Experience in retail or outpatient pharmacy practice
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver patient‑centered care in a collaborative clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy
  • Experience using pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and pharmacy workflows
  • Experience providing care to pediatric populations, including neonates, children, and adolescents
