As a nonprofit founded by John and Monica Rivers, we focus on food as medicine, regenerative farming, sustainability, and education to build a healthier, more resilient community—starting at our 40-acre 4Roots Farm Campus in Orlando.

Position Summary

The 4Roots Foundation is seeking a strategic and driven professional to join our Philanthropy team as the Director of Grants. This role is responsible for overseeing and growing revenue from corporations, foundations, and government entities in support of 4Roots. They will lead strategy development, portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward institutional funders.

What You Bring

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• 7+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a proven track record in grant writing and management
• Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure institutional prospects
• Strong knowledge of federal and state grant opportunities
• Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
• Experience leading or mentoring development staff
• Proficiency in DonorPerfect or similar donor CRM systems
• Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and projects
• Passion for the 4Roots mission and ability to translate it into compelling funding opportunities
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for donor meetings and events

What You’ll Do

• Create and manage an annual plan for institutional giving with clear goals and timelines
• Oversee a portfolio of institutional donors, developing custom cultivation and stewardship strategies
• Lead grant proposal development in collaboration with internal teams, aligning deliverables with funder expectations
• Build and maintain a pipeline of new funding opportunities through proactive research and outreach
• Track grant compliance, reporting, and deliverables across departments
• Monitor performance metrics and present regular updates to leadership
• Represent 4Roots at donor events and cultivation engagements
• Support the development of campaign strategies, impact reports, and presentations
• Perform other duties to support the overall success of the Philanthropy team

Tools of the Trade

The Director of Grants should be well-versed in donor database systems (DonorPerfect preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual communication tools like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Experience with grants management software, cloud-based file systems, and project tracking tools is a plus.
