Materials Manager | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Develop and implement material planning strategies, including MRP and demand forecasting.
• Oversee the procurement and scheduling of materials to meet production demands.
• Lead and mentor the materials team, including inventory control and warehouse personnel.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for material flow, storage, and handling processes.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure on-time delivery and quality of materials.
• Monitor and report on key materials metrics, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency gains.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for inventory planning and control.
• Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, Just-In-Time (JIT) methodologies, and S&OP processes.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
• Proficiency with advanced data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for supply chain optimization
• Experience with international sourcing and logistics
